I've been waiting and this new version sounds great. But before I begin the installation process, I have a couple questions.
I read over the email I received very carefully but....

1. The email says the Deluxe Web version cannot coexist on the PDA with other versions. Before I even begin the installation process of this version (on my PC and PDA), should I uninstall Pocket-Cook Version 5 on my PDA?

2. I sync with two computers (home and work). One computer is running XP the other is Windows 98. Do you recommend installing the .Net Framework, the MDAC 2.7 SP1 Refresh, and the Jet 4.0 SP8 on the Windows 98 computer before I even begin the installation process of Pocket-Cook Deluxe Web edition?

3. If I read correctly, it looks as though there will be some sort of "users (monthly) fee" to utilize this Deluxe Web version. Is this the case? Could you please explain the costs involved for existing customers? The email says there is "no charge for this new product" but a donation is requested. But will there be additional costs for accessing your webserver to store recipes?

4. Once I install this new version, I'm assuming I can store all my recipes on your web server, correct? If so, will there be a reason to also store them on my PC? I'm not sure I understand why I would want recipes on my PC and the Web and my PDA. Help me see why I shouldn't just bypass the PC and simply sync between the Web and my PDA? Sorry to be so stupid!!!

Thanks David - Can't wait to give this a try. I've had problems in the past and finally my current version of Pocket-Cook is working great. So I'm almost afraid to make the change even though I badly want to begin utilizing the web version.

1. Yes, uninstall V5 from the PDA first
2. .Net Framework is installed automatically if missing, the other two aren't. So yes I would recommend installing all 3 first.
3. You need Pocket Cook Mobile to have an account on the Web. That cost is to cover the storage of recipes on our web server amd access to it. The normal cost is $4.95 per quarter but existing customers of Pocket Cook Deluxe (and Standard) who make a donation are entitled to a special price of $2.95 per quarter.
4. You can store recipes in all three places. Wireless technology is still not (for most people) as fast as a land-line link. So downloading 1000 recipes via wireless would be expensive (again for most people) and slow. As wireless gets faster and cheaper more people will use it as the primary means of acessing the web whilst on the move. In the meantime you can use the web to share recipes, plans etc with others as there is no restriction (other than having a licensed copy) on multiple people accessing an account. Please view the viewlets on our web site for demonstrations on this apsect and all other aspects. Also probably most PDAs today have no wireless capability.
