Yes, you see it correctly. Pocket Cook is supported again. forums.pocketcook.net is up and running. It is being populated with the old system information. Systems are working again and if you would like to send an email, don't hesitate.

This chain of e-mails is very interesting to me since I get the same message that Crossfire 5.5 cannot be found (even if I go and download it directly).   But it seems like you moved past this error even though I can't see in this thread how you did it?

Please help!

Hello, "Other" Keith. :-)

It wasn't easy....

The reason it isn't in the thread is that I worked directly with David Dalton in Technical Support to resolve it. It took many, many messages, several lengthy manual uninstalls, and three hard resets and restores from old backups.

I did so many things throughout this process that it's hard to know for sure what finally fixed the problem. It's quite possible that an older version of Booster/Crossfire had been installed by another application and was interfering with 5.5. Make sure you completely uninstall Booster and Crossfire before doing anything else.

In the end, what finally fixed it was adding an empty "Settings" key to "Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\PCWE\" in the registry. IF you have a Pocket PC registry editor and are comfortable doing this, AND have a good backup, you might try this.

Feel free to email me or send me a private message. Or maybe David will jump in here and help you fix it. He was VERY helpful to me--a good example of what technical support should be.

The very latest version of the PDA software now forces a settings value in order to be absolutely sure it is set. I suspect whether you know it or not tyat you have or had an older version of Appforge. Searching the registry would find it or the email suggestions I made to you including a soft reset after installation.

Really? I don't see any mention of a "latest version" on the Web page. Any other changes?

Dave,

If an old version of Appforge was installed by another program, it's invisible and I can't uninstall it.  I tried everything in your e-mail and nothing works.   I would edit the registry if I could, but I can't find "regedit" on my pocket pc so I have no idea how to do this.   Or are you suggesting editing the registry on my desktop pc?
