Well, I was just about ready to ask for this software for Christmas, and now I can't get it to synchronize. This has got to be the strangest Pocket PC install I've seen.

I had things working until I had to reinstall Windows. I then reinstalled the desktop version of Pocket Cook, and when I went to "Sync with a Pocket PC" and clicked "Assemble", it told me, "Pocket Cook does not appear to be installed on the Pocket PC". Of course, it was still installed on the PPC from the previous installation.

So I thought I'd try reinstalling. I chose "Download PDA Software", then "Install Downloaded PDA Software", and it couldn't find the downloaded program. I did a search and found that it had been downloaded to my data directory (in a nonstandard location), so I ran it from that location and installed over the top of the existing PPC installation. When I tried to sync, I got the same error.

Next, I unstalled the program from my PPC and reinstalled. No luck.

I thought that maybe it had to be installed from the desktop program directory. So I moved the PPC installation program to the desktop directory, uninstalled from the PPC, and reinstalled again. Same result.

I do have the program installed on my SD card, but it seems that others do have the program running successfully from a storage card.

Any ideas?

I have a little more information now.

I tried to run the program on the PPC and got an error message saying that Crossfire Client 5.5 or higher needs to be installed. Do I need to install that separately? I don't remember doing so for the first installation.

Crossfire Client 5.5 is included in the PDA installer that you would or should have downloaded in pcwe7.exe

It is downloaded to the Pocket Cook program folder and only there. If you found it elsewhere it is probably not the correct version. Its about 1MB in size. If substantially less you do not have the correct version. Send an email to support@pocketcook.net and we can tell you how to get the correct version as it seems your browser is playing up.

I uninstalled both Booster/Crossfire Client and Pocket Cook from my iPAQ, then reinstalled Pocket Cook. I still got the Crossfire error.

The error message told me to visit www.appforge.com/devices to download the current client, but the Appforge Web page says that this is paid software, and the download is only a trial.

I checked the version of Crossfire on my PDA, and it is 5.5, which the error message said I need. So I tried a soft reset, and now I cam able to run the program on the PPC.

However, the desktop program still tells me that the application is not installed on the Pocket PC. Sigh....

Is the program installed in main memory or SD card? If SD card, please uninstall using the correct procedure and reinstall using the correct pcwe7.exe program that is 1MB in size. Also uninstall Appforge from Pocket PC. Reinstall to Main memory (for now).
